And, last but not least, we are all loving this sunny taste of Spring today!  The perfect weather to enjoy coffee and breakfast on the bench, in the sun before it gets too hot.  Enjoy the day!

Ben

Ben hasn’t worked at the bakery for long, but you’d never know it. A quick learner, Ben does an amazing job at the retail counter (his great smile welcomes all of our customers) and is extremely helpful when it comes to prep work, production and any thing else I may need help with on any given day. He is a hard worker and a pleasure to have as part of our staff. We also love it when he brings in his banjo and plays us a tune!

Es

This has been a bit of a sad week for Levain Bakery.  On Tuesday, March 17th 2009, appropriately Saint Patrick’s Day, we lost one of our biggest advocates, a mother, a dear friend and an amazing woman.

Esther McDonald is well known by many of our long time customers.  Es spent many hours at the bakery working with everyone and chatting with everyone.  Without Es’s support and belief in us the bakery would never have come to be.  When other people looked at Connie and Pam and thought they were out of their minds to be opening “a bakery!” Es never hesitated to help in anyway possible.

We have great memories at the bakery of Saint Patrick’s day with Es dancing around to Irish folk music, Thanksgiving evening with a glass of “Chablis” and some turkey after a busy day, packing up gift packages during the holidays and the other many other days she spent with us.

We are still laughing about Es asking “do we make cappuccinos?” her way of getting someone else to make them for her!  As well as her “do we have more chips?” meaning she had run out of cookies!

Essie, we love and adore you, thank you so much for everything and we know that you are in heaven watching over us.

Alexis W

She’s extremely organized and meticulous and is ALWAYS ready to lend a helping hand. At first she appears a little timid, but once you get to know her she opens up into this bright, fun loving person (as long as there is a little Dionne Warwick playing J)
