Don

don_at_work

Don has been working at the bakery for a while now and most customers will recognize his bright smile when they come into the bakery. I can not pinpoint the specific amount of time he has been here because he kind of “comes and go’s”. He is an opera singer and has to leave us often for performances all over the country. When he leaves, we are all very sad to see him go but are so happy that he is doing so well pursuing his dream. When he comes back, as he just did this week, we are happy that he can step back into the bakery and it is as if he never left! Welcome back Don!

Buon Giorno

cafe latteAfter such a great crazy holiday season at the bakery, I decided to take a break and take a trip to the one place I’ve always wanted to go to – Italy. The moment my plane touched down, I felt totally connected to this wonderful place.  (Exact destination – Firenze). I was instantly in love – the Italian language, the people and especially the food. Everything is just so simple there, simple but wonderful. Don’t get me wrong, I love living here in the states, now more than ever, but there is something very magical about Florence and the towns around it.gina-a-firenze

As I pranced around the city, I was able to visit some really amazing cafes. During my visits, I would notice how fresh everything was and how good everything smelled. I also got to play the part of a tourist and really see how it feels to be on the other side of the counter. ”Buon Giorno, come stai oggi?” was instantly shouted as I entered every café.  Being so far from home, it was so comforting to walk into a place and feel instantly welcomed.  Eating a delicious treat and having a cup of coffee was a special part of my everyday routine .As I was greeted by the servers with big smiles and asked questions about my country, I thought about all the amazing tourists that walk through our doors at the bakery. They come from all over the United States and even all over the world to visit us and feel that same way I felt. I am so proud and happy that my staff and I can do the same. We can offer a great cup of coffee, a wonderful treat and a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere so everyone who visits can feel right at home. We can even shout out a “Buon Giorno!” if you’d like.

We’d like to introduce our new webcams!

East Hampton Crew Says Hi

East Hampton Crew Says Hi

Find yourself online—how fun is that– via Levain Bakery webcam in either our New York or East Hampton location. Wave hello to friends or family. The webcam images/photos re-take every 10 seconds and you can find a full day’s images indexed online; just follow the links on our website. Here’s the key—we only save the webcam images for one day, all webcam memory from the previous day is deleted at 8 a.m everyday. So don’t miss your 15 minutes.

When you come into either bakery location look for the computer monitor mounted on the wall (in NYC it’ll be behind you, in East Hampton it’s to your left)—you’ll see pretty quickly where you need to strategically place yourself for maximum visibility or maximum invisibility.

Have fun with webcam images:

  • Email them to friends, family, jealous work colleagues, jilted lovers…use your best judgment.
  • Save webcam photos to your computer.

say “cheese” “it’s all about the cookie.”

*Disclaimer: we have targeted a specific spot in each bakery where those customers may stand if they wish to be visible via webcam, but for customers who’d prefer to shop for baked goods without leaving a trace, you’ll find plenty of counter space well outside the view of the webcam.
